Title : In depth analysis of reason of zero dose among children in urban slum of Nepalgunj: A qualitative study
Abstract:
Background: In Nepal significant increase of zero dose children from1% to 4% have alerted all the stakeholders associated with child immunization1. In addition to this increasing outbreak of vaccine preventable diseases in the areas with low vaccination dose are showing importance of increasing coverage of vaccination. There are many efforts from all three tiers of the government but very less evidence regarding triggers or factors that are contributing to the zero dose are find for Nepal. This paper will explore causes for not going for vaccination among zero dose in low vaccination pocket areas of Banke district of Lumbini Province.
Methodology: The qualitative data will be collected from the participants. KII (Key Information Interview) will be done with the use of semi structured questionnaire to explore the reasons for not going for vaccination. Purposive sampling will be done, and snowballing approach will be used to recruit participants. The sample size will vary as per the saturation of data. Thematic analysis of the data will be done. The time frame for the research is August 2023.
Conclusion: The findings from the study will support in guiding government and other development partner to plan interventions as per the requirement of the community. Also, this study will be additional supplement in literature for childhood immunization.
