Abstract:
Background: Several vaccines have been approved for use against COVID-19 infection. Public health measures promoting compliance to COVID-19 vaccination require understanding of knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP).
Objectives: This study explored the KAP towards COVID-19 vaccination among healthcare workers in a tertiary hospital in Tacloban City and determined the association between the demographic profile of the healthcare workers with their knowledge, attitudes and practices towards COVID-19 vaccination.
Methods: Two hundred forty-three healthcare workers were included in the cross - sectional descriptive study. The participants answered two sections of a modified validated KAP survey form.
Results: Of the 243 participants more than half of them had adequate knowledge (135, 55.6%). Majority of the respondents had positive attitude towards COVID-19 vaccination (234, 96.3%) and most of them also had good practices towards COVID-19 vaccination (230, 94.7%). Results also showed that there was a significant association between their level of education and their knowledge towards COVID-19 vaccination with a p value = 0.001 and their designation and length of work experience with their knowledge, attitude and practices on COVID-19 vaccine with p values of p<0.001. Previous COVID-19 infection was also found to be significantly associated with their knowledge towards COVID-19 vaccination (p=0.047).
