Helikumi Mlyashimbi

Biography:

Dr. Helikumi Mlyashimbi is a Lecturer and Acting Director of Center for Virtual and Continuing Education (CVCE) of Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST) since May 2022. Prior to his appointment as Acting Director, he served in various managerial positions including Head of Department of Science and Business Management (2013-2017), Examination coordinator (2012-2013), and Time table coordinator (2010-2012) both at Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Dr. Helikumi Mlyashimbi joined UDSM to pursue Bachelor of Education in Science (Bed-Science) studies in July 2003 and graduated in November 2007. He was enrolled in a Master of Science in Mathematical modeling in 2008 at University of Dar-es Salaam (UDSM) and graduated in November 2011. In January 2018 he was registered in Doctor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences and Engineering at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) and graduated in 2021. His research interest is in Mathematical modeling of human and animal diseases such as Malaria, Trypanosomiasis, Chikungunya, Zika, COVID-19, Ebola, Brucellosis, cholera, and other non-emerging diseases. He has published over 20 papers in peer reviewed journals and he is a member of Mathematic Association Tanzania (MAT).
