Anti Infective Therapy
In the realm of anti-infective therapy, antimicrobials constitute a diverse arsenal against various pathogens. Antibacterial drugs, commonly known as antibiotics, are fundamental in treating bacterial infections. Their mechanisms range from inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis to disrupting protein synthesis, showcasing their versatility. Antiviral medications are crucial in managing viral infections, with some targeting specific stages of the viral life cycle. Antifungal therapy addresses fungal infections, ranging from superficial skin conditions to life-threatening systemic mycoses. Combination therapies, incorporating multiple antimicrobial agents, are sometimes employed to enhance efficacy and combat resistance. Striking a balance between effective treatment and preventing resistance is paramount for the continued success of anti-infective therapy in managing infectious diseases.
