Aspergillosis
Aspergillosis is an infection triggered by a collective of molds called Aspergillus. These molds are commonly found in the environment and are typically harmless to healthy individuals. However, in people with weakened immune systems or underlying lung conditions, such as asthma or cystic fibrosis, Aspergillus can cause serious respiratory problems. The infection usually occurs when spores of the mold are inhaled into the lungs, where they can colonize and cause inflammation. Symptoms of aspergillosis can vary depending on the type and severity of the infection but may include coughing, wheezing, chest pain, and shortness of breath. Treatment typically involves antifungal medications to control the infection and may also include measures to address underlying health conditions and boost the immune system.
